You have found your way here, therefore you must be cool…SO…This is your invitation to the 2nd annual Whip Poor Will Music Festival on Saturday July 28th, 2018 from 12-8pm!

The Whip Poor Will Music Festival is our homegrown backyard party that outgrew the backyard…so we moved it to the back 40 (a big field in the middle of the woods) and upped our game by bringing in top flight regional acts. We wanted to keep the backyard party vibe: all ages, friendly pets, frisbee, hula hoops, bubbles, picnicking and such, so we did.

We cannot overstate how much we love the bands we have this year! Check them out!

Gates open at 11am.

The Whip Poor Will Music Festival started as a backyard music party with festival founder Matthew Shields’ band, friends and family. Bands come and go, friends stay or leave, and family is family. Music has been the constant. Our love for live music in cool spaces has been the driving force behind expanding our circle of (music loving) friends and (friends that are) musicians and moving the party from the backyard to the back 40.

This is our second year in the new space and we are continuing to improve the stage area and grounds. We have also streamlined our musical offerings this year with less bands and more time for each of them to stretch out musically.

The Wishing Tree will need decorating again this year (so bring a wish)!

Whip Poor Will Music Festival 2018 Schedule:

July 28th, 2018

12:30 PM-1PM Duo Duquette
1PM-4PM Big Blue World (with special guests Rob Duquette  & John Kumnick)

This roots based band from Boston, MA combines 3-part harmonies layered over rock and world beat grooves and has developed a unique sound that moves seamlessly from original reggae and psychedelic rock to West African and Cuban music. The band includes Conor O’Brien (guitar and vocals), Chris Chitouras (guitar and vocals), Keith Kirkpatrick (bass and vocals) and Frank Laurino (drums). Big Blue World just released their 2nd album, agitate d’love, available on iTunes. Some influences include Paul Simon, Fela Kuti, Bob Marley, Peter Gabriel, Buena Vista Social Club, Salif Kieta, Baaba Maal, Grateful Dead, Ali Farka Toure and Zani Diabate.

4pm-8pm Truffle

Truffle is our headliner this year. Together for over 30 years, Truffle are passionate players and entertainers who are in it for the long haul; it’s what they do and who they are! Their travels have taken them to all but ten states in the US; and now tour the New England region constantly. The ongoing list of international acts they have supported is huge: Dave Matthews Band, Little Feat, Phish, The Band, Blues Traveler,  and many others. They have released five full length albums, as well as numerous compilations.

Tickets are by donation. All proceeds go toward defraying the costs involved in hosting this event.  Costs include paying the bands and sound support, feeding and watering our wonderful volunteers, renting generators and  port-a-potties, and gathering materials for building and maintaining the stage and grounds. Once we reach critical mass we will be supporting local nonprofits.

Single tickets are a suggested donation of $20.
